(Hosted by Coral Springs International Partnerships, Inc. which is an off-shoot of the Multi-Cultural Committee)

This program is not active currently. However, during its 8-year existence, International Partnerships Inc. hosted several international delegations from other countries. Letters of Friendship were signed with Paraiso, Costa Rica; Entebbe, Uganda; Gros Morne, Haiti; Mures County, Romania; City Chibi, China; and Tasmania, Australia. Coral Springs continues to enjoy a business partnership with the City of Providencia, Chile. Several visits between the two countries have been exchanged to learn about each other’s municipal programs and services.

Coral Springs International Partnerships, Inc. was incorporated in September 1999 with the primary intention of developing partnerships with other foreign cities. Features of this program included a 3-week foreign Exchange Student Program with Paraiso, Costa Rica who was our partner city for 6 years. The Committee also acted as a welcoming group for local exchange students residing in the Coral Springs area and introduced them to the various aspects of our community.

Other programs held included:

Exchanges of Art and Artists

  • Between Coral Springs and our partner city, Paraiso, Costa Rica took place with the support of International Partnerships, Inc., The Coral Springs Museum of Art and the Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee.

Participation in the Young Artists Competition

  • Sponsored by Sister Cities International.

Student Exchange Program

  • Between Coral Springs and Paraiso, Costa Rica – for many years, each summer, and two students from Coral Springs have had the opportunity to spend 3 weeks with a host family in each partner city. The intention was to become familiar with the local culture, cuisine and language.

In 2008, the City of Coral Springs was awarded the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Ever since then, we have received numerous requests from other American cities as well as foreign countries that are eager to learn about our best practices and strategic management techniques. A big moment occurred in the City’s history in May 2010 when Coral Springs entered into a professional partnership with the Municipality of Providencia, Chile. A “Letter of Understanding” was signed with the intention of leveraging each other’s business principles, practices and decision-making tools for mutual benefit.

Members of the defunct International Partnerships, Inc. group remain active in their ambassadorial role when called upon to host international delegations to our community.
