The Common Gray Fox can sometimes be confused with the Red Fox. The grayish-silver coat on the back clearly identifies the Gray Fox.
This omnivore feeds on birds, rodents, insects, amphibians, eggs and even fruits and berries. It sometimes will climb trees to pounce on prey or escape from danger.
The Common Gray Fox is a very secretive animal and lives in well secluded dens. The fox either digs the den itself or modifies existing burrows to suit its needs.
