Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology (IT) is responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of information systems and technology for City departments. IT, through collaboration and participation with City departments, provides the highest quality cost-effective technical support and services that are critical in meeting the needs of city staff and the citizens they serve.

Purpose Statement

To provide a customer-focused environment that integrates people, processes, and technology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of City services.

Divisions

Application Management

Application Management works to ensure that City departments have the critical resources and support necessary to provide optimal services to the public.

Enterprise Resource Programs provides computerized records management, quality control and report distribution, delivers support for the Human Resource and Payroll's data tracking and management system, enabling City administration to manage employee information via integrated applications and tools.

The Applications Management section is responsible for the acquisition, implementation and support of city computer applications systems and databases, as well as the current office productivity suite (MS Office) as sourced from commercial and governmental software packages and internally-developed systems.

Application Management is also responsible the maintenance and development of software systems for Police and Fire departments.

GIS Services

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Services Division is committed to providing the City of Coral Springs with many services including map production, custom spatial application development, data development, and technical support. Taking advantage of the latest geospatial technologies, the quality services provided include data collection and conversion, database creation, mapping, data modeling, analysis, and custom interface design and development. GIS plays an invaluable role within the City of Coral Springs by providing current information and data analysis in support of many critical city functions including public safety, emergency response, city development, zoning, land use, engineering, and transportation.

The mission of the GIS Services Division is to provide the highest quality geospatial services and information possible to the City in a timely fashion and as economically as possible. The GIS Services Division facilitates the efficient and effective management of the human, cultural, financial, and natural resources of the City and its neighboring communities. Geospatial services are defined as technical, management, and administrative consulting, data provision, application development and implementation services of spatial information.

Infrastructure Services

The Infrastructure Services Division provides services to support the employees of the City of Coral Springs through staffing of the IT Services Help Desk; Systems Data Management and Network and Telecommunications Operations.

The diverse units in this group provide a wide-array of services, including:

  • Customer Support:
The IT Services Help Desk goal is to provide high quality support in today's fast paced information technology environment. The Help Desk staff responds to calls from all City Departments and resolves calls on the first contact or escalates the request to second tier support as required. In addition to supporting the end-users computing environment, the group also manages hardware/software purchases and installation.
  • Data Management:
The systems and data management team designs, administers, maintains and supports enterprise servers, databases, data storage and internet access for the City of Coral Springs.
  • Network Operations:
The Network and Telecommunications Operations team provides customer service, management, and support for enterprise network connectivity, voice services, technical consultation, internet access, and network engineering.

Project Management

The Project Management Office (PMO) provides project management and guidance of the operational and developmental phases of technology implementations for the City of Coral Springs. The PMO leads business transformation through people, process, and enabling technology.

The section focuses on process improvement and best practice project management and promotes partnering, collaboration, and innovation to meet customer service objectives, providing City departments with full life-cycle project planning and management.
